Service Dog Training

Foundational training for service dogs takes place in your home as well as in pet friendly locations.

Task training is what makes your dog a service dog. Tasks should be selected based on how they will help mitigate your disability. Not every dog is suitable for every task, this is something to consider when choosing your service dog prospect. Service dogs must have a minimum of one task (or work), but most handlers will benefit from multiple tasks.

Public access training is the most difficult part of service dog training. Not every dog is going to have the temperament to be out in non-pet friendly environments on a daily basis. Public access training involves working on advanced obedience skills as well as task training in difficult environments including grocery stores, malls, and public transit.
